All of these women have made a mark on the HVAC industry and continue to do so. While they serve in different areas of the industry, each is making a contribution to both improve the industry and make it a more welcoming career for females.
Introducing women to the trades and all the opportunities it provides is essential for our industry. We are in desperate need of qualified, exceptional individuals to help the home service businesses thrive and hope that women see it as a viable career.
The HVACR industry has changed so much since I entered. To see women develop into mentors and leaders in this industry is amazing. I am so proud to be a member of Women in HVACR.
To increase the number of women in HVACR, and engineering in general, an introduction to and continued emphasis on STEM starting at a young age is crucial.
My passion stems from helping people understand the tools to be successful in their career and their day-to-day life — whether that’s working in the field or trying to run a successful business.
You need to be continually learning. Take the initiative to learn on your own. You also have to have integrity — mean what you say and say what you mean.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions; you can learn and do anything if you have a true passion for it and you enjoy what you are doing. There are many opportunities, from marketing to chemistry. I firmly believe there are many opportunities for anyone in this field.
