CHANTILLY, Va. — At its recent meeting, the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) board of directors approved funding for several new educational and technical task forces.

The new task forces include:

  • Supervisory Training Program for Residential Retrofit Project Management Task Force — A course outline for a new program to provide project management training to supervisors in the retrofit and service sector will be developed.

  • Advanced Sheet Metal Estimating Program Task Force — A new education program for those interested in expanding their estimating knowledge will be designed.

  • Contractor Operation Manual Task Force — A working outline for updating this manual to reflect current technologies and improved methods of productivity will be created.

  • Service Managers Training Program Task Force — A new one-day program for service managers will be developed and offered through the chapter education program.

  • Managers’ Guide for Welding Task Force — The scope of revisions to the guide will be developed.

  • Seismic Restraint Manual: Guidelines for Mechanical Systems Task Force — Plans for the third edition will be developed.

  • Time is Money: Understanding Project Cost Fundamentals — This program will be designed to provide employees with a better understanding of company finances and work flow as well as costs related to a successful project.
