According to BIG-NA, students matriculated in two-year associate degree and four-year degree programs in engineering, engineering technology, or building sciences with an interest in pursuing a career or further study in building automation and intelligent buildings are eligible to apply.
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be a student member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
When submitting an application, students should have three references, two personal or business and one from a professor. A 500- to 1,000-word essay must also be completed. The topic for the essay is, “My vision for the building automation industry and my role in this future.”
