ATLANTA, GA — A Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has been appointed to a National Academy of Sciences panel on fighting terrorism.

Lawrence Spielvogel, P.E., a consulting engineer located in King of Prussia, PA, will serve on the "Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism: Panel on Energy Facilities, Cities, and Fixed Infrastructure." He is the only hvac engineer on the panel.

The panel is one of several operating under the Academy's Committee on Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism. These experts will identify current topics and opportunities for research that will reduce the nation's vulnerability to terrorism directed at energy facilities, buildings, and other infrastructure elements. A report from the panel will be issued in fall 2002.
