Alton Shannon, president of Shannon’s Inc., International Falls, Minn., was named the 2006 Trane/PHCC HVAC Contractor of the Year at the recent annual convention of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC).
Shannon, nominated by the Iron Range Association of PHCC, was selected for his professionalism, merchandising skills, management techniques, innovative HVAC practices, trade involvement, and community service. He is a member of the Minnesota board of directors, and has held several other industry-related offices. Shannon is known for his involvement in both the community and the industry. For example, he purchased an old school and renovated it to become his office, showroom, and a classroom for the apprentice program.
Candidates for HVAC Contractor of the Year are evaluated by a committee of PHCC members using a 100-point system that weighs accomplishments in six areas: professionalism, merchandising skills, management skills, innovative plumbing skills, trade involvement, and community service. In recognition of being named HVAC Contractor of the Year, Shannon received a check for $2,500 and a crystal award.
The PHCC-National Association provides legislative advocacy, education, and training to 4,000 plumbing and HVACR contractors and approximately 79,500 technicians. Members of PHCC have access to a variety of services designed to increase their professionalism, grow their business, and improve profitability. More information can be found at www.phccweb.org.
