MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) in conjunction with the other members of the International Council of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Manufacturers Associations (ICARMA) announced support to establish a working group to prioritize the development of global industry standards, and pledged to promote intellectual property awareness and collaboration. Members also developed a strategy to better promote their environmental stewardship efforts.
To foster better protection of intellectual property, the council approved a policy in which it agreed to support protection of intellectual property at trade exhibitions; advance communication and training activities to promote intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness among the industry’s supply chain segments; and share IPR protection strategies with local officials.
In addition to standards and IPR protection, the council approved its new tagline, “A Global HVACR Partnership for Energy Efficiency and Environmental Stewardship,” and members briefed attendees on their country or region’s activities to address responsible refrigerant use, energy efficiency, sustainable technologies, and market-based initiatives such as carbon trading.
