Denton’s responsibilities include managing all technical and code matters relating to the organization. He will represent the alliance in several gas industry committees, including the American Gas Association Building Energy Codes and Standards committee; the International Association of Plumbers and Mechanical Officials Mechanical Technical committee; and the ANSI Z21.11.2, ANSI Z21.94, and ANSI Z21.11.3 Technical Advisory Groups. He also watches the alliance’s interests in the National Fuel Gas Code, the International Code Council I-Codes, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards, testifying on behalf of the alliance at regulatory hearings.
“Don Denton was a major factor in the alliance’s success in gaining acceptance of vent-free gas appliances by all U.S. code groups and every state except California,” said Sue Walker, chairman of the alliance.
“He has played an instrumental role in continually improving and updating the national product standard for vent-free heating products, ANSI Z21.11.2.”
