Mike Sackett, the executive director of Controls Group North America (CGNA), addressed the fall members meeting about the urban revitalization phenomena known as “Smart Growth.”

ST. LOUIS - Controls Group North America (CGNA) hosted its annual Fall Members Meeting at the Hilton St. Louis Airport. The two-day event, which began with the CGNA board of directors meeting, followed by a general session and semi-annual committee meetings, brought together over 40 distributor members to address specific business issues and chart the course of action for the upcoming year.

Mike Sackett, executive director of CGNA, presented material on the Smart Growth urban planning phenomena, especially as it pertains to CGNA’s integration and building automation distributors. He explored the future of the controls distributor’s role in the mixed-use development of buildings and the subsequent impact of mixed-use development on the commercial and residential buildings market.

Leslie Hoyler, marketing administrator for CGNA, spoke on the shift in demographics, behaviors, and expectations in the modern workplace. She focused on the importance of distributor business owners planning ahead for the retirement of the Baby Boom generation and, as a corollary, developing strategies to attract, retain, and develop the next generation of workers.

CGNA also had the chance to introduce its newest member, Keith Sutton, of Cumberland Trading Co., Fayetteville, N.C., to the rest of the CGNA members.
