POTTSBORO, Texas - A golf tournament to benefit the Joe Groh SCI Fund will be held April 25 at the Tanglewood Resort, Pottsboro, Texas. Groh worked in the HVAC industry for his entire 20-plus year working career.
A large portion of Groh’s career was spent with Lennox as a territory manager in Chicago; a marketing manager in Columbus, Ohio; a director of the dealer marketing advisor program in Dallas; and a district manager in the Carolinas and Chicago. Most recently he was a vice president of sales and marketing at PCI Industries in Fort Worth, Texas, a company that manufactures various HVAC products.
Groh was an avid bicyclist and had been riding since he was a child. On Sunday, June 15, 2008, he was riding his bicycle on the trails around Grapevine Lake when his front tire hit a patch of sand, causing his front tire to go off the trail and throwing him over the handlebars. Groh is now a quadriplegic. He can only move his head and eyes.
The first item this tournament is raising money for is a voice-activated computer. Groh and wife Sue have been married for over 25 years and have raised three children - a son who is a graduate of Texas A&M, another son who is at North Texas University, and a daughter who is a junior in high school.
