And while there will be a number of topics fitting in with the theme, RSES officials also noted, “The conference will deliver a total learning experience for HVACR contractors, service technicians, operations/maintenance managers, engineers, and technicians, sales staffs, instructors, and students.”
A couple of the highlighted events tied in with the theme include a seminar called ‘Shades of Green in 2009” in which Garth Denison of Sporlan Division, Parker-Hannifin Corp. will “discuss various acceptable environmental practices that modern refrigeration and air conditioning technicians need to know,” according to RSES. Topics are expected to include refrigerant phase-out, synonyms used to describe refrigerants, thermodynamic comparative data, effects of subcooling and why it is needed with R-410A, when and how receivers are installed on R-410A systems, an overview of recognized R-410A piping practices, and the environmental limitations accepted in today’s typical installation.
“Even Your Ice Machine Can Be Lean and Green” is the topic for Danny Moore of Hoshizaki America Inc. It will include efficiency updates especially as related to the California Energy Commission, new federal efficiency guidelines and requirements, and Energy Star.
Also on tap in the green category are “New EPA Regulations Preventing the Sale of R-22 Systems and How it Affects the Contractor” by Al Maier of Flow Control Division, Emerson Climate Technologies Inc.; “Green Select: Coil Cleaners That Are Environmentally Friendly” by Rick Pope of Nu-Calgon; and “Energy-Efficient Duct Systems, Go Galvanized, Go Green” by Chris Van Rite of M&M Manufacturing Co.
Rusty Walker of Hill-Phoenix will offer a three-part seminar on secondary refrigerants covering medium- to low-temperature applications.
Attendees will also have the option to take tours of the area that include Minnehaha Falls, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Nicollet Mall, Stone Arch Bridge, Guthrie Theatre, Wabasha Street Caves, and Cathedral of St. Paul.
The conference is open to anyone, and there are both full conference rates and daily attendance rates. The location is the Hilton Minneapolis/St.Paul Airport Mall of America Hotel.
