TAMPA, Fla. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has announced that Conditioned Air Corp. of Naples, Fla., is the residential winner and TAG Mechanical Systems of Syracuse, N.Y., is the commercial winner of the association’s 2010 Contractors of the Year program.
The winners were announced at ACCA’s 42nd Annual Conference and Indoor Air Expo, held this week in Tampa, Fla.
Of the residential winner, Paul T. Stalknecht, president and CEO of ACCA, said, “Conditioned Air transcends the HVACR industry and functions as a true business, with a disciplined approach to decision making and company-wide buy-in to its value proposition.”
Led by Theo Etzel, CEO and president, and his management team, Conditioned Air has grown its annual revenue by about $15 million since he took the reins in 1995. With disciplined decision making and open-book management, said ACCA, Conditioned Air is able to swiftly adjust to changing market conditions. The company’s growth is the result of having a solid, conservative business plan in place, and empowering employees to make decisions to drive that plan.
Other residential finalists included A Good Neighbor Heating & Cooling of Middlebury, Ind., and Service Legends of Des Moines, Iowa.
Of the commercial winner, Stalknecht said, “TAG Mechanical has consistently been a leader in the industry, committing itself to being a true resource to its customers and the building community in general.”
With a focus to stay on the cutting-edge of LEED and other energy efficiency initiatives, TAG Mechanical has made itself a building science expert to its customers, having its employees become trained and certified in specialties that fall outside the realm of traditional HVACR, said ACCA. The result is that about 80 percent of the company’s projects fall into this systems-based, holistic approach to integrating HVAC into a building.
Other commercial finalists included MSI Mechanical of Salem, N.H., and Blackall Mechanical of Dallas.
