ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) launched its newest product section - Fluid Pumps. Joining the association’s 40 other product sections, Fluid Pumps was unanimously approved by AHRI’s board of directors at its Nov. 15 meeting.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring together manufacturers of fluid pump equipment to address issues of common interest in this growing market, and to establish a dialogue among industry leaders,” said Henry Hwong, AHRI’s vice president of Product Section Services.
The new section was formed in response to demands from fluid pump manufacturers seeking a forum to discuss and solve common issues. The approved scope of the section covers all roto-dynamic centrifugal pumps/circulators used for circulation of fluids in residential and commercial buildings primarily used in the following applications: closed loop heating and cooling systems (primary, secondary, zone, and loop pumps); domestic hot water recirculation; pressure boosters; steam systems; cooling towers; geothermal; and solar.
“We are very pleased with AHRI’s decision to initiate a new product section for fluid pumps,” said Steve Thompson, vice president of the Building Services Segment at Wilo USA, a section member. “The industry is looking forward to working within AHRI to develop rating and testing standards and other programs such as statistical reporting.”
