SHANGHAI - Carrier Corp. announced that it has been selected by the global retail giant TESCO to provide air conditioning equipment for 20 future TESCO superstores. In addition, Carrier will perform chiller retrofits for existing TESCO stores across China.

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, TESCO is one of the world’s top retailers and has rapidly expanded in China with approximately 70 hypermarkets. When selecting a HVAC supplier for its new stores, TESCO required a total solutions provider that had expertise in chillers, airside products and control systems and the ability to provide a centralized monitoring platform covering all stores nationwide in order to achieve energy efficient operations.

Carrier secured the air conditioning equipment purchasing contract with TESCO through May 2010. Under the agreement, Carrier will supply high efficiency products, including 19XR Evergreen® centrifugal chillers, 30XW Aquaforce® screw chillers, and 35E series VAV boxes with digital controllers. The AquaForce and Evergreen chillers exceed ASHRAE 90.1 standards and can be incorporated into Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building projects.

To provide an integrated building solution, Carrier will also equip each TESCO store with a complete WebCTRL® building automation system from Automated Logic. Working through a standard browser, WebCTRL can support access from many browser-equipped devices, including desktops and cell phones, providing communication flexibility. With its reporting, trending, and scheduling capabilities, Carrier said WebCTRL will help the superstore analyze energy consumption, implement more efficient energy programs, and save operating costs.

“The adoption of WebCTRL will benefit the TESCO superstores with higher efficiency and cost effective operations,” commented Eric Wei, managing director, Carrier China Distribution and Service. “We look forward to providing more energy efficiency solutions to high performance commercial buildings throughout China.”

“We’re thrilled to support TESCO with sustainable products and services, leveraging our two-decade experience in environmental stewardship,” said John Mandyck, Carrier’s vice president for Sustainability and Environmental Strategies.
