Pressure-Independent Control ValvesA line of pressure-independent control valves (PICVs) that integrate three functions into a single device — control valve, adjustable flow limiter, and automatic pressure regulator — are available. The line is engineered to offer accuracy and flexibility which simplifies planning, installation, and commissioning – especially for large hydronic HVAC system applications. Control accuracy enhances room comfort, and the valves make a significant energy-efficiency contribution by preventing over- or under-supply of heating or cooling energy, said the company. The portfolio of PICVs is comprised of eight valves covering a flow range from 0.3 to 37 gpm with a differential pressure operating range from 2.3 to 58 psi. An integrated differential pressure regulator keeps the pressure across the internal control valve constant, while also maintaining consistent volumetric flow, regardless of pressure fluctuations in the hydronic system. This ensures a higher level of comfort under all operating conditions and keeps return temperatures optimized. Features include American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Class 250 valve body, ANSI Class IV leakage at 45 psi (½ to 1¼ inches), ANSI Class III leakage at 50 psi (1½ to 2 inches), linear flow characteristic, and brass trim and stainless steel stem.
