Pfeiffer Vacuum - North America: Portable Vacuum Leak Detector
October 22, 2012
Weighing 11 pounds, the MiniTest 300 portable vacuum leak detector is excellently suited for mobile leak detection and is the ideal companion for on-site service calls, said the company. The device detects with a quartz window sensor, not a mass spectrometer. In combination with the wireless remote control operation of the RC 500 WL, even large facilities and systems can be tested for leakages by just one person. The MiniTest 300 operates at a working pressure of up to 200 mbar, without requiring additional pressure reduction. According to the manufacturer, in comparison to a traditional leak detector with a mass spectrometer as a helium sensor (working pressure approximately 20 mbar), this is a significant advantage with respect to labor costs, materials used, and cost overall. The device is equipped with two different leak detection functions. An existing leak is located as quickly as possible when in search mode, the qualitative leak detection mode. If, in addition to the localization, the size value of the leak is also needed, the measuring mode — the quantitative leak detection mode — must be used. All measurement data can be saved in the device’s remote-control system and stored on a USB stick for further use.

This seems to be one of the most sophisticated vacuums out there, but I wonder if it's really as good as they say. Usually I use the Kirby vacuum and I'm very happy with it, I wouldn't switch it for anything!
