The award honors innovative features incorporated into consumer electronics products that demonstrate energy efficiency, environmentally conscious manufacturing processes, product sustainability, and resource conservation.
Said to be the most energy efficient and quiet Energy Star® certified recessed fan/light, the WhisperRecessed unit resembles a designer can light but features a quiet and powerful ventilation fan hidden in the ceiling. Panasonic said the 80 cfm fan/light removes indoor pollutants, allergens, and moisture from the air and is 187 percent more energy efficient than Energy Star standards.
WhisperRecessed is designed to provide 30,000+ hours of continuous operation with its permanently lubricated motor. Since heat is detrimental to motor life, the electrical configuration of the motor has been designed to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings, said Panasonic. The fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust. WhisperRecessed also complies with the RoHS directive, which restricts the use of hazardous substances commonly found in manufacturing processes.
“Panasonic is honored to receive this recognition from the Consumer Electronics Show as it acknowledges our commitment to provide innovative and sustainable technologies that help improve indoor air quality and reduce energy costs,” said Anita So, marketing manager, Panasonic Eco Products Division.
The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology trade show. Panasonic’s WhisperRecessed ventilation fan will be displayed at the 2013 International CES, which runs Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas.
