Born in Newark, N.J., he graduated with honors from Tufts University and studied for a master’s degree at the University of Georgia.
O’Shea was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a traffic analyst in the Army’s security agency. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in New Brunswick, N.J.
He was elected as executive director of the Mechanical Contractors Association of N.J. (MCANJ), and was well known and respected as a Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) governmental affairs agent. He also operated as former chair of the MCAA’s association executives council; served as a joint apprentice training center trustee of Locals 9, 24, 475, refrigeration, air conditioning, and service division (U.A.-N.J.); and with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 400. Surviving are his wife, Rae (Larson); son, Patrick; daughters, Katherine and Susan; mother, Lillian (Yankowsky) O’Shea; sisters, Lois Page, Patricia Connell, Eileen Givens, and Ann Marie Cargo; brothers, Michael, Matthew, and Thomas O’Shea; and several nieces and nephews.
