Customer: Skanska Commercial Development (Houston)
Installation: One 500-ton Daikin McQuay water-cooled chiller, one 400-ton Daikin McQuay Magnitude magnetic-bearing water-cooled chiller, 13 Daikin McQuay Vision air-handling units totaling 256,000 cfm, one 31,000-cfm SEMCO energy-recovery rooftop unit, 21 Danfoss VFDs (variable-frequency drives), one 8-ton Daikin VRV (variable-refrigerant volume) system, and HTS Controls.
Completion: HVAC installation complete in summer 2012; building slated for completion in summer 2013.
Objective: Install green HVAC equipment to help Skanska Commercial Development achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum rating.
Work Completed: HTS Texas worked with MLN Co. to install Daikin McQuay’s water-cooled chillers, air-handling units, and VRV system along with Danfoss’ variable-frequency drives (VFD), HTS Texas’ controls, and a SEMCO energy-recovery rooftop unit. The HVAC equipment will contribute to achieving eight LEED points for energy efficiency, which will position Skanska Commercial Development’s building to be in the top 1 percent of buildings in the United States.
