The Delphi microchannel coil uses brazed aluminum construction and consists of three components: a flat microchannel tube, fins, and two refrigerant manifolds joined in a single coil. Compared to conventional coils, this construction is said to make the coils 30 percent more compact and about 50 percent lighter, plus the coils use 40 percent less refrigerant.
Delphi also said the new coil features a unique and efficient defrost process.
