Trane®, a brand of Ingersoll Rand: Commercial Water-Source Heat Pumps
March 25, 2013
Horizontal configurations of variable-speed water-source heat pumps designed for commercial applications are available. The models feature sizes up to 5 tons and complement existing vertical models in the Trane Axiom™ variable-speed portfolio. Axiom water-source heat pumps are capable of full integration with building automation systems. They feature factory-programmed Tracer™ UC400 controls, which utilize proprietary algorithms specifically designed to maximize the unique efficiency potential of onboard eFlex™ compressor and fan technology. The eFlex variable-speed compressors and fans respond to changing demands by varying their speeds, optimizing energy consumption while improving reliability, acoustics, and comfort. Some configurations of the water-source heat pumps with eFlex technology reach an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 40. Combined with the integrated controls, eFlex technology enables custom on-off cycling modes and airflow parameters, reduces wear and tear, and increases occupant comfort by providing a more consistent environment. In addition to more precise temperature control, the system optimizes the compressor-to-fan speed ratio to provide customers with enhanced dehumidification benefits.
On Demand Thanks to generous tax credits and rebates being offered by utilities, sales of heat pumps will likely increase exponentially in the coming years, so it’s important to understand the wide range of equipment that is currently available. In this webinar series, we will examine each of the 9 different types of heat pumps.
