As the industry continues to introduce more equipment using CO2 as a refrigerant, the need for training to work with that gas is growing.

In a recent announcement, Scotland-based Star Refrigeration is offering training in that regard through its Star Learning Solutions program. It is a two-module Continuing Professional Diploma (CPD)-certified eLearning course on CO2 as a refrigerant in refrigeration. It is accessible online through www.i-know.com.

The first of the two 40-minute modules is called CO2 Refrigeration Fundamentals. It is an interactive flash movie that includes video presentations and reference material. The module describes CO2 and how it can be used as a refrigerant, its different grades, and the existing phases of the gas at different pressures and temperatures.

The second module is called CO2 Refrigeration System Basics and presents different types of existing CO2 refrigeration systems, their major components, and principles of operation.

The course is online and can be accessed immediately after purchase.

CO2 Refrigeration Qualifications
