MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. — A new training manual available from the ESCO Institute, “Hydrocarbon Refrigerants: A Study Guide for Service Technicians,” looks at hydrocarbon refrigerants, which have recently started gaining momentum in the United States market.

The manual is important, ESCO said, because it’s only a matter of time before technicians begin seeing systems utilizing hydrocarbon in the field, which recently was approved for use in specific applications by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP).

The manual will help everyone better understand the regulations, safety issues, and service procedures surrounding hydrocarbon refrigerants, said ESCO, while also covering EPA regulations and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards.
