Rob Noel, president of BC Comfort, said the partnership with Transformative Wave “allows us to provide an innovative product to our clients that is proven to help reduce energy costs and benefit their businesses greatly.”
According to Transformative Wave, the CATALYST rooftop unit retrofit adds five to six new sensors and has been developed as an easy-to-install pre-wired kit. When applied, the company said it significantly lowers the energy use and improves the overall performance of constant volume HVAC systems. The CATALYST assures proper ventilation, maximizes the use of outside air for free cooling beyond standard economizer logic, and reduces fan energy use. The company said it can reduce HVAC energy usage by 25 to 40 percent.
In a recent trial installation at Richmond Centre, a major shopping mall, multiple CATALYST systems were installed by BC Comfort in conjunction with BC Hydro Power Smart. Potential energy savings of 30 percent were forecasted in this application.
