NEW YORK — Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling and Heating Division opened its AHR Expo booth with a press conference announcing that, “This is the year of heat. We intend to change the perception of the heat pump.” With those sentiments Mitsubishi Electric rolled out the Hyper-Heating R2-Series of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) zoning systems. Known as H2i, the units can operate at 100 percent heating capacity at temperatures down to 0°F. The H2i R2-Series joins the Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i®) family of cold climate heating products. According to the company, this patented flash injection technology allows the H2i R2-Series to simultaneously cool and heat down to -4°F.

Also introduced was the MSZ-FH line of Hyper-Heating residential systems. The company noted in a press conference that the units achieve 30.5 SEER. The high-performance inverter compressor technology and heat transfer capabilities allow the MSZ-FH to operate at 100 percent heating capacity at 5°F.
