COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. — Scheck Industries, a national mechanical construction contractor, announced that Karen Layng has been appointed general counsel and vice president corporate development of the Scheck companies and will remain an advisor to the board. Layng joins Scheck from Vedder Price P.C. where she was a shareholder, chair of the Construction Law Group and Compensation Committee, and immediate past chair of the Litigation Practice Area, as well as a long-standing member of the firm’s board of directors.
Layng has extensive construction expertise and experience on transactional and litigation matters and has been an advisor to company boards. She has successfully tried cases in federal and state courts and before the American Arbitration Association and is a member of the AAA Panel of Arbitrators, for commercial and construction disputes. She brings skills in business development, strategic growth, and enterprise risk management. She will report to chairman, Richard N. Scheck.

She is ranked in Chambers USA, recommended by Legal 500 United States, and was the first woman president of the 7th Circuit Bar Association.
