HARTFORD, Wis. — Broan-NuTone®, a leading manufacturer of residential ventilation products, has crowned the overall winner of the 2013 ULTRA Pro Challenge, a nationwide competition among contractors to install an ULTRA™ ventilation fan in the fastest time. The top eight contractors from across the country battled against one another at the 2014 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas for the title of “ULTRA Pro” and the grand prize, a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Jared Stork from Fairbury, Ill., completed the Challenge in four minutes and 14 seconds and was declared the nationwide winner.
“We developed the ULTRA fan to make contractors’ lives easier — plain and simple,” said Richard Palmersheim, group vice president, marketing, Broan-NuTone. “We knew the fans were going to save time upfront, but participants of the ULTRA Pro Challenge far exceeded our expectations for quick installation. The final times were astonishing.”
The remaining seven finalists who competed in the Challenge were Burton Morris, Hyannis, Mass.; Jeremy Johnson, Danbury, Conn.; Dennis Tetzloff, Anaheim, Calif.; Ricardo Mercado, Escondido, Calif.; Jim Mitchell, Folsom, Pa.; Joe Lareau, Las Vegas; and Noe Lopez, Carpinteria, Calif.
Broan-NuTone said quick installation isn’t the only benefit of the ULTRA fans. They also help meet green building and ventilation codes, they operate quietly at less than 0.3 sones, they contain an energy-saving dc motor and two 18-watt Energy Star®-qualified light bulbs and, now, the fans have the ability to detect humidity or motion.
The company said it will host the ULTRA Pro Challenge again this year. The 2014 tour will include 120 events nationwide, doubling the locations from 2013.
