PITTSBURGH — Hussey Copper has entered into a new partnership with Polar Air Supply LLC, Riviera Beach, Florida, for a new line of copper ducts that will combat odor-causing mold and mildew in HVAC systems.
HVAC system components operate in warm, dark, humid environments that are ideal breeding grounds for mold and mildew that cause odors and can reduce system efficiency. According to the Copper Development Association, laboratory testing on odor-causing mold and mildew has shown that copper materials, like MD-Cu29 from Hussey Copper, can inhibit the growth of these organisms.
Polar Air Supply has produced the first copper insulated ducts available with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered product claims in regards to suppressing the growth of bacteria and molds that could cause product deterioration or foul odors and can lead to reductions in system efficiency. Polar Air Supply, a leading UL 181 metal duct manufacturer, will introduce the copper ducts for application in hospitals, schools, health care facilities, and laboratories.
“At Hussey Copper, we are enthusiastic about our partnership with Polar Air Supply who shares our passion for innovation by linking technology and manufacturing,” said Joe Mallak, CEO of Hussey Copper.
