Project Files: Cooling the Dog Days of SummerCompany: Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning

Customer: Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Safe Haven (MASH), Phoenix

Installation: A 10,000 cfm evaporative air conditioner

Completion: July 21, 2014

Objective: The 10,000 cfm evaporative air conditioning unit was installed on the roof of MASH and is now being used to cool the outdoor play area for dogs.

Work Completed: The MASH program was created to house and care for animals that have been abused or neglected by their caretakers and rescued by the Animal Crimes Investigations Unit. Goettl installed the cooler to assist in the no-kill shelter’s mission to provide a safe environment for animals rescued from neglectful and abusive homes. The evaporative cooler was installed in the former First Avenue Jail, which was converted into a no-kill animal shelter by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. To complete the project, the company used a crane to lift the unit three stories and install it on the roof. The building itself is air conditioned to comfortably and safely house animals. With the addition of the evaporative cooler, the dogs will have the chance to exercise, even in the hot summer months.

Quote: “I truly admire the work that MASH does to protect and house helpless animals that have nowhere else to go. The heat in Arizona is hazardous to both humans and animals. Goettl is committed to ensuring that all members of our community are cool and safe this summer.” — Dan Burke, president, Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning.
