Zelite polyethylene tubing comes in a linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) formulation. This formulation provides enhanced resistance to splitting during use over the low-density type because of its increased elasticity. Zelite is applicable for airlines, chemical and fluid transfer, wire jacketing and decorative coverings, and pneumatics and instrumentation, among other uses. Zelite is manufactured from 100 percent nontoxic, virgin-grade raw materials that conform to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards. Chemically inert, it forms a good barrier to gases and moisture. Zelite has a semi-rigid nature, allowing a degree of flexibility but enough stiffness to be joined using push-to-connect fittings. It will remain flexible at temperatures well below 0°F/minus 17°C and offers a maximum operating temperature of 140°F/60°C. A co-extruded version of polyethylene tubing — polyethylene-lined EVA — performs much like LLDPE tubing but provides a few additional features.
