SAN ANTONIO – Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) immediate past president Randy Novak recently presented a $5,000 check to the Heart of Texas SPCA of San Antonio.
Giving hundreds of homeless, unwanted dogs and puppies a second chance for a happy life in a loving home, the Heart of Texas SPCA works to save abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in San Antonio by providing shelter and care until their new homes can be found. The organization is a no-kill shelter; pets are not euthanized due to space restrictions or their appearance. Some have special needs and may be missing a leg or two, requiring specialized medical care and equipment. The shelter also microchips, vaccinates, and spays and neuters dogs, as well as provides rehabilitation for animals traumatized by abuse.
Established in 2000 as Animal Friends, the Heart of Texas SPCA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and survives solely on public donations. In 2013, Animal Friends teamed up with more rescuers to form The Heart of Texas SPCA, with expanded resources and programs to help even more homeless animals find their forever homes.
