The Innovation Award winners in all 10 product categories were presented their awards at the 2015 AHR Expo, culminating in the presentation of the Product of the Year award to Danfoss. All the winners gathered to show off their awards.

CHICAGO — At the 2015 AHR Expo Innovation Awards ceremonies on Jan. 27, Danfoss’ Turbocor VTT Series compressor was selected as winner of the 2015 Product of the Year. The new Danfoss compressor was chosen as the top product from among the Innovation Award winners in 10 HVACR product categories.

Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Co., which produces and manages the AHR Expo, kicked off the awards ceremonies by noting the long history of the expo and showing a photo of the 1934 show when ASHRAE was known as ASHVE, the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers.

Tom Phoenix, president of ASHRAE, and Ed Purvis, representing the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), joined in presenting the awards. Purvis remarked that the AHRI tagline, “We make life better,” sums up what this is all about. “We continue to advance the technology.”

 The Innovation Awards program was designed to recognize the most innovative and useful products among the thousands on display at the AHR Expo. Entries submitted by exhibitors each year are judged on the basis of innovative design, application, market impact, and value to the HVACR industry. The awards are also meant to promote and encourage new product development in 10 major categories: Building Automation, Cooling, Green Building, Heating, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Plumbing, Refrigeration, Software, Tools & Instruments, and Ventilation.

The Danfoss compressor, intended for commercial air conditioning or process cooling applications that require a high efficiency solution, qualified to compete for the top award by taking top honors in the Green Building category.
