MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute Inc.(BPI) has announced that Spanish versions of the Building Science Principles (BSP) Certificate of Knowledge exam and companion reference guide are now available for purchase through a new section of BPI’s website, www.bpi.org/espanol.
“BPI recognizes that there are many Spanish speaking professionals in the home performance industry, or looking to develop their careers here,” said Larry Zarker, BPI CEO. “The Spanish BSP offers members of the Hispanic community across the nation an opportunity to not only learn whole-house building science, but also to earn this certificate of knowledge that will help them take critical steps toward a career in the building trades.”
Earning the BSP certificate is based on passing a 100-question online exam that verifies a basic knowledge of building science. The BSP certificate’s companion reference guide helps prepare candidates to understand how various systems of the home interact to maximize energy efficiency, enhance building durability, and protect occupant comfort, health, and safety.
Because the BSP is a knowledge-based exam, BPI noted that it requires no hands-on field testing with diagnostic equipment. The BSP certificate is not a BPI technical certification. For those considering a career in home performance contracting, the BSP serves as an introduction to the organization’s technical certifications, including the Building Analyst, Building Envelope, Heating, and Air Conditioning and Heat Pump professional designations.
For more information on the BSP certificate, to purchase the reference guide, or to register to take the exam, go to www.bpi.org/espanol.
