CHICAGO — Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services, is reporting high completion rates for the 2014 tests assigned to it for the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) Certification Programs. Over the course of the year, Intertek completed 2,757 total tests on HVAC products and completed 99.5 percent of testing on first samples, a company record, according to Intertek.

“At Intertek, we strive to provide our clients with the best service possible, and we’re proud to partner with AHRI to help companies save energy, improve products, and protect the environment,” said Nimer Al-Hafi, president of products at Intertek. “These completion numbers reflect not only our commitment to AHRI, but our expertise and experience, which we continue to bring to the forefront of this type of testing.”

AHRI member companies produce more than 90 percent of residential and commercial air conditioning, heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration products in North America. Intertek has provided third-party testing for AHRI’s product certifications for more than 50 years. These tests determine a product’s ability to conform to AHRI’s rating standards or specifications, which in turn ensure that products perform according to manufacturers’ published claims.

“As a trusted partner for more than 50 years, Intertek has played an important role in helping us verify the accuracy of product ratings,” said Bill Tritsis, vice president of certification programs at AHRI. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Intertek in 2015 and beyond.”

Intertek’s network of facilities now maintains accredited test lab status for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Star®, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), California Energy Commission (CEC), ASHRAE, AHRI, Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), Saudi Standards, Quality and Metrology Organization (SASO), CB Scheme, ASTM International, and NSF International requirements.

Intertek provides HVACR equipment testing, independent performance verification, electrical safety testing, outsourced testing for overflow, witness testing, chemical compatibility testing, and more. For additional information about Intertek’s HVACR offerings, visit www.intertek.com/HVACR.
