BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. — The VMC Group, a leader in vibration isolation and seismic engineering services, announced it has acquired a 51 percent control stake in Dynamic Certification Laboratories (DCL).
Headquartered in Sparks, Nevada, DCL is a test and measurement company and a leading provider of shake table tests for the HVAC, industrial, and medical equipment manufacturing industries. DCL provides seismic simulation testing, analysis, reporting, and International Building Code (IBC) certification of equipment in the western region of the U.S.
“Acquiring DCL allows us to expand our engineering services in the test and measurement market by more than 50 percent, while also facilitating our expansion into the California market,” said John Wilson Jr., CEO of The VMC Group. “We are thrilled to be working with the distinguished, expert members of the DCL advisory board, Mr. Ahmad Itani, Ph.D., S.E., F.ASCE, Mr. Patrick N. Laplace, Ph.D, and Mr. Gokhan Pekcan, Ph.D., as well as continuing our dynamic relationship with Mr. Joe La Brie, SE, and his current team. DCL has outstanding industry expertise and this acquisition fully represents our commitment to expanding our services to become a prominent industry solutions provider.”
La Brie said, “When initially considering the sale, I was looking for a company that would ‘shake’ our industry to its very core. The VMC Group is the only company in the seismic simulation domain that could rattle the status quo and improve the value proposition to our clients across the board.”
The VMC Group designs and manufactures vibration isolation and seismic energy management technologies. Its Engineering Services Division has been providing IBC Special Seismic Certification to Fortune 500 companies and manufacturers of HVAC, power generation, and fire protection systems for more than 10 years.
