COLUMBIA, S.C. — Cool Care Heating & Air, a Bryant dealer, was recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its commitment to improving residential energy efficiency. Cool Care received the 2014 Century Club Award, honoring its work to take a whole house approach to improving energy efficiency by using the Energy Star® program in more than 100 homes in one year.
“This award means that we helped our customers live healthier, cleaner, more comfortable lives while reducing their carbon footprint, using less energy, and saving our precious resources,” said Teresa Wardlaw, Cool Care owner. “Hearing so many testimonials that houses feel better and allow occupants to breathe easier and reduce or stop taking allergy medicine makes us very proud. The resulting energy savings and lower utility bills are just the icing on the cake.”
Cool Care is one of 180 contractors from across the country to receive the 2014 Century Club Award. In 2014, Cool Care was the top dealer in the state to use the Home Performance with Energy Star program, available through South Carolina Electric & Gas. Cool Care conducted 31 percent of the South Carolina projects statewide in this program. The Home Performance with Energy Star program aims to improve the efficiency of the whole house by adding insulation and sealing leaks, improving heating and cooling systems, sealing ductwork, replacing windows, and upgrading lighting, appliances, and other equipment.
“The success of the national program depends on your efforts in the local community,” David Lee, residential program manager in the Building Technologies Office at DOE, said in a letter to Cool Care. “We are grateful for your hard work and commitment to helping homeowners reduce their energy consumption at home.”
Cool Care has also distinguished itself as a top-performing Bryant dealer as well as a premier home energy expert. The company was recognized by Bryant earlier this year with a 2015 Medal of Excellence Award.
