Central Heating & Air Conditioning Co. in Richmond Heights, Ohio, recently donated and installed a furnace, air conditioner, and duct system in a South Euclid, Ohio, home courtesy of Purple Heart Homes. The value of the equipment totaled approximately $10,000, according to Steward Unsdorfer, company president.
“I wanted to do something for our veterans,” Unsdorfer said. “I never served in the military, and I felt I owed something to those who had. Purple Heart Homes is doing great work for our veterans, and I wanted to be a part of it. I also wanted to give back to my community, as I grew up in South Euclid. The rehabbed home was extremely distressed, so not only does the work help a veteran, it also helps the community.”
Purple Heart Homes has several programs in place to help veterans with home ownership, including Veterans Aging in Place, Veteran Homeownership Program, and the Boots to Backyards mentor program. For more information, visit www.purplehearthomesusa.org.
