Samuel A. Shuman of Speer Mechanical in Columbus, Ohio, died April 12 at the age of 89. Shuman, a graduate of Penn State University and Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) past president, joined Speer Mechanical in 1957 and built it into a successful mechanical contracting business.

He was active with the MCA of Central Ohio and served as the organization’s president, on its board of directors, and on several committees. He was also active for many years with the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio, where he served as a past president, and earned the Cornerstone Award. He also served on several MCAA committees and was a member of its board of directors. Shuman became president in 1992.

Services were held at the Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Columbus.
