SAN ANTONIO — Twelve HVAC apprentices recently competed in the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association’s (PHCC’s) Educational Foundation’s fourth annual HVAC Apprentice Contest in San Antonio. After showcasing their talents Oct. 19-20 during PHCC’s annual CONNECT conference and trade show, three apprentices received the top prize packages. Jonathan Barrick, Shapiro & Duncan Inc. in Rockville, Maryland, earned first place. He was sponsored by Emerson. Jasen O’Brien, Kuenster Heating & Air in Kalona, Iowa, won second place. He was sponsored by North American Technician Excellence (NATE). Aaron Barcus, UA Local 597 Training Center in Chicago, earned third place. He was sponsored by Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp.

Judged by the foundation’s HVAC Apprentice and Journeyman Training Committee, contestants participated in six events, held both on the trade show floor and off-site at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio. Technical assistance was provided by UA Local 142, also in San Antonio.
