PHOENIX — Arizona's longest established air conditioning company, Goettl Air Conditioning, will celebrate its 78th anniversary today, February 14, the same day that Arizona celebrates its 105th birthday.

When Goettl was founded in 1939, Packard became the first automobile manufacturer to offer an air conditioning unit in its cars, the cost of a gallon of gas was 10 cents, the average cost of a new house was $3,800 and eggs were 18 cents per dozen.

The Goettl name has been recognized for excellence in heating and air conditioning installation and service since originally established in Phoenix by brothers Gust and Adam Goettl. The Austria-Hungary born Goettl brothers became internationally-known pioneers in conditioned air technology. Their sheet metal company formed to manufacture evaporative coolers would develop numerous heating and cooling technology innovations that led the industry and were often the first of their kind. At one time, the Goettl brothers held more than 100 patents.

"While much has changed since 1939, our values and commitment to doing the right thing for our customers have never wavered," said Ken Goodrich, CEO and owner of Goettl Air Conditioning. "The Goettl brothers invented the industry and created an innovative and well-respected brand. Today, the 'Goettl workhorse' is well-known and continues to be cited in awe by industry peers."

Goodrich adds, "The very notion of conditioned air has been a key factor in the astounding growth Arizona and the Southwest have seen, especially post World War II. We take great pride in continuing the values set forth nearly eight decades ago."

Since 1939, Goettl has succeeded and prospered through nearly eight decades of business and technology changes and transitions. Today, Goettl offers a suite of HVAC services and equipment. Goettl also offers indoor air quality services including duct cleaning. In Arizona, the company has service centers in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas.

Goodrich acquired Goettl AC in 2013 and expanded to Las Vegas in April 2016. Since 2015 alone, Goettl has experienced 500 percent year-over-year growth and continues to expand.
