VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Vancouver-based Fēnix Energy Solutions Ltd. has taken another step toward its vision of creating the greenest cities across North America by launching an operations and maintenance solution focused on harnessing the thermal energy of buildings.

Working with British Columbia-based developers and utilities, Fēnix has been awarded three long-term contracts to implement predictive operations and maintenance (O&M) solutions for high-rise HVAC systems. In effect, turning run-of-the-mill HVAC systems into sustainable assets capable of harvesting, storing, and trading energy.

“We've always believed that a building's HVAC system is so much more than just mechanical infrastructure,” said Edward Smith, managing director, Fēnix Energy. “It is the solution to a healthy bottom line and even healthier environment. Since 2010, we've been developing a Design-Build-Own-Operate service offering based on that belief. With demand growing for our O&M services, we know we’re on the right track."

When asked about Vancouver as a launch site for the clean technology solution, Adrian Ryan, director, Fēnix Energy, commented, “Vancouver is known for its ambitious Greenest City Action Plan, so it was an obvious choice to prove the solution. Fēnix O&M services include preventive maintenance and emergency call-out and system optimization to ensure asset reliability, in addition to managing system expansion and upgrades. We're looking forward to helping more developers, municipalities, and utilities leverage O&M to balance demand for smart cities, green buildings, and a healthy bottom line.”
