SAO PAULO, Brazil — Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) staff traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sept. 12-15 for events and meetings surrounding FEBRAVA 2017.
AHRI exhibited at the FEBRAVA show to promote AHRI’s certification programs and standards. AHRI staff also met with representatives from the Brazilian association for HVACR, Associação Brasileira de Refrigeração, Ar Condicionado, Ventilação e Aquecimento (ABRAVA) to discuss common issues and ongoing collaboration.
Stephen Yurek, president and CEO, AHRI, gave a presentation during the CONBRAVA Conference, held in conjunction with FEBRAVA, on how developing countries should weigh the pros and cons of accelerating the transition to alternative refrigerants according to the Kigali Amendment schedule in the future HFC-phasedown.
AHRI’s Bill Tritsis, vice president of certification, and senior manager of international affairs, Michael LaGiglia, met with ABRAVA leadership and members to discuss the Global Refrigerant Management Initiative (GRMI), launched in September 2014 by AHRI, ABRAVA, and the Alliance for Responsible Atmospheric Policy. They also discussed increased laboratory infrastructure in Brazil, due to some Brazil-based manufacturer interest in domestic testing and certification of large equipment, especially in the context of potential increased industry regulation in the future.
The next FEBRAVA exposition will be held in 2019.
