Enercare Inc. and Enercare Solutions Inc. announced that Evelyn Sutherland, Enercare's chief financial officer, has resigned to pursue other career opportunities. Ms. Sutherland has informed Enercare that she has accepted a senior finance position at another company. Ms. Sutherland will continue in her current role until January 28, 2018.
"On behalf of the board, I thank Evelyn for her tremendous contribution to Enercare throughout her six years, including her key role in our two transformational acquisitions", said John Macdonald, president and chief executive officer. "During her time at Enercare, Evelyn has built a strong finance department, which has positioned Enercare well for the future. We wish Evelyn continued success in her new role."
Enercare has commenced a search for Ms. Sutherland's replacement. In the meantime, Brian Schmitt will assume the role of acting chief financial officer. Mr. Schmitt is currently vice president, finance and has been with Enercare since 2008. He has been instrumental in supporting the growth of the organization and has deep knowledge of Enercare's business, coupled with a strong finance leadership background. Mr. Schmitt is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, as well as a member of the CFA Institute.
"Enercare has grown dramatically from just over a hundred to over 4,500 employees across Canada and the U.S. over the last 6 and half years. I was thrilled to be part of this transformation, which has created so much value for shareholders, and I have really appreciated the tremendous support from my colleagues," said Ms. Sutherland. "And although I am proud of the team and company that I helped to build, I am excited to start a new opportunity."
