Trane®, a leading global provider of indoor comfort systems and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, is now offering Agility™, a new water-cooled centrifugal chiller product line. Agility is ideal for customers retrofitting existing space-limited commercial buildings for efficiency and sustainability.
Agility is a completely redesigned chiller in the 175-425 ton range with a new and different compressor and heat exchanger. It uses next-generation, high-efficiency (CHIL™) evaporators that are proprietary to Trane that decrease size by 25 percent and total chiller refrigerant charge by up to 25 percent versus other medium pressure heat exchangers available on the market today.
“The redesign makes the Agility chiller line more compact which increases ease of installation, and saves time and money for commercial building owners,” said Donny Simmons, president of the commercial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) business of Ingersoll Rand “There are thousands of existing buildings that are at or past their expected life. Most of these chillers are less efficient than those available today and in mechanical rooms that are difficult to access.”
Delivering over 40 percent better IPLV than the ASHRAE 90.1-2016 requirement with a 25 percent lower refrigerant charge than other medium pressure chillers, Agility is designed to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These chillers are part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise™ portfolio of products, which are solutions available with next generation, lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants offering safety, reliability and efficiency. The Agility chillers are design optimized with the next-generation, low- GWP refrigerant, R-513A and is also available with current generation refrigerant option, R-134A.
Products within the EcoWise portfolio reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while maintaining safety and energy efficiency through innovative design. Other Trane chillers included in the EcoWise portfolio are Sintesis™ air-cooled chillers and entire CenTraVac® centrifugal chillers portfolio that also include Series S and Series E chillers.
