CHICAGO - Danfoss hosted its 23rd annual AHR Expo Press Conference Tuesday morning at the Hyatt Regency, offering attendees an inside look at the company’s current position in the market, an update on the manufacturer’s regulatory and policy outlook, and more.
“Global sales were better than we expected in 2017 and we had positive developments in Europe and in North America,” said John Galyen, president, Danfoss North America. “We’re planning about 5 percent top-line sales growth in 2018, and, in general, Danfoss is well positioned in the global market. We have 69 factories in 50 countries, and I’m proud to say North America remains the largest market in the world.”
Mark Menzer, director of public affairs, Danfoss, said the recently passed tax reform could benefit Danfoss and the industry as a whole.
“2017 was an exhausting year,” he said. “That said, the one major achievement of last year, tax reform, could be a giant boost for our industry. Not only will corporations have more money to spend on HVAC systems, but the lowering of the tax rate and particularly the immediate expensing will have a great impact on people’s ability to change out retrofit equipment. Going from 39-year depreciation to immediate expensing will be an incredible incentive.”
Later in the evening, Danfoss’s Turbocor® TTH/TGH High Lift Compressor won the 2018 AHR Expo Product of the Year. The TTH/TGH is optimized for air-cooled chiller and heat recovery applications and engineered for high-lift applications, including air-cooled chillers and heat recovery. The TTH/TGH models feature oil-free, variable-speed, magnetic-bearing operation for outstanding full- and part-load efficiency, low vibration and sound, a small footprint, and reduced maintenance while providing an expanded operating map suitable for air-cooled chiller and heat recovery applications.
