CHICAGO — The war on germs is on, and RGF Environmental Group Inc. is dominating the fight. The company rolled into the 2018 AHR Expo alongside the Germinator — a large, army-like vehicle, equipped with a giant REME HALO® mounted to the roof, which makes it capable of eliminating pollutants everywhere it goes.
Company engineers custom built the Germinator in an attempt to attract attendees to the booth, where they learned about the importance of healthy IAQ and how RGF is tackling pollutants using Advance Oxidation, Environmental Purification Technology, and other innovative designs and technologies.
The REME HALO was designed to eliminate sick building syndrome risks by neutralizing odors, particulate, air pollutants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), smoke, mold, bacteria, and viruses. It is easily mounted into air ducts, where most problems start. When the HVAC system is in operation, the REME HALO creates an Advanced Oxidation Plasma consisting of ionized hydro-peroxides, super oxide ions, and hydroxide ions.
Though the REME HALO itself is not a new product, Clear Sky™ DM and Clear Sky™ MS are new and were on display at the show. The products were designed as low-cost, self-cleaning, maintenance-free treatment options for in-duct air treatment.
Building on the success of the QUAD-DM™ and QUAD-MS™, the Clear Sky DM and MS produce high concentrations of both positive and negative ions that will reduce bacteria, mold, and particulates in the conditioned space. What makes the Clear Sky line of products standout above other products in this category is that it uses continuous “self-cleaning” technology that is proprietary to RGF. This is achieved by ultrasonic energy coupled with induced oscillations targeted directly to the carbon ion emitters.
The Clear Sky DM is a 24 VAC input unit that attaches directly to the inside of the air handler via its integrated magnets. The Clear Sky MS is a 100-277 VAC input unit that attaches directly to the top of the mini-split unit with simple hook and loop adhesive. The DM unit is designed for use within HVAC systems up to 2,400 cfm or 6 ton, while the MS unit is designed to accommodate airflows from standard mini-split units.
By combining the technology of these new products with the already existing REME HALO, RGF was able to develop an even deadlier IAQ weapon — the REME HALO ECHO, which will be released later this year. “The ECHO has incorporated seven proven air purification technologies in one compact unit,” said Lisa Bailey, strategic accounts manager, Air Division, RGF. “Integrated within the ECHO, the new ClearSky ultra-high frequency sonic systems provides three new and distinctive treatment features to the REME HALO.”
While positioned inside your HVAC system, the REME ECHO’s ultra-high frequency sonic waves will activate the all new REME super hydrophilic catalyst (multiple patents-pending), which promotes higher water vapor conversion rates as well as sonolysis reactions within the catalyst itself (hydrosonolysis™); provide a continuous self-cleaning function that will help keep the integrated ClearSky unit’s critical components clean; and act as a pest deterrent within the HVAC system itself, as it generates an uncomfortable atmosphere where the pests live. RGF’s ClearSky system does not kill pests, and its effects are completely contained within the HVAC system itself. It works by making the spaces in proximity to the ClearSky unit a very uncomfortable area for them to continue to stay in. It is harmless to humans and pets, as the sonic waves never leave the HVAC system. All of these functions will save the homeowner money and result in a safer, more environmentally friendly home. The RGF ultra-sonic self-cleaning feature will help reduce maintenance, while the sonic pest deterrent will help eliminate the need for dangerous pest control chemicals inside the HVAC and ducts.
In addition to the products and technology behind the REME HALO ECHO, RGF also displayed its Rapid Recovery Unit, Magnetic Mount Package unit, the IMSB Ice Machine Sanitizer, and more.
The company also promoted its achievement in earning seven Dealer Design Awards from The NEWS in the last five years; its mission to proactively ensure public safety at all Chipotle restaurants through the strategic alignment the companies have implemented by installing REME HALO In-duct Air Purification units and IMSB Ice Machine Sanitizers in every location nationwide; and its commitment to quality with ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 standard was the logical next step in futhering the company’s commitment to customers, said Walter Ellis, executive vice president and general manager for RGF Environmental.
“RGF manufacturers IAQ products for all applications, and we are a completely vertical company,” said Bailey. “Our products have been tested, validated, and proven and are used all over the world.”
