ARS/Rescue Rooter of Indiana gave back to the community by donating and installing furnaces, water heaters, and Google Home Minis to local families this winter. Area residents were prompted by radio commercials and social media posts to nominate families on arsindianapolis.com. The families received their installations just in time to beat the cold snap this winter.
The first recipients are Chad and Maggie Hasler, and they were nominated by their aunt, Jan Isengole. The Hasler’s assisted Isengole when she needed support after a stroke, aiding her financially and with the care of her two adopted children, one of whom has special needs. Their fifteen-year-old furnace was not enough to keep the home warm.
Likewise, 24-year-old Ashley Cavett-Bemis lost both of her parents last year and, subsequently, found herself struggling emotionally and financially. She was using a space heater and affording a new furnace is out of her budget.
A total of five Indianapolis households were nominated for the ARS Cares: an initiative that donates hot water heaters and furnaces to local families in need. Nominations were made by the recipients’ friends and family members, and in keeping with the spirit of giving, the ARS/Rescue Rooter staff nominated homes as well.
Kerry Tidwell, the General Manager of ARS/Rescue Rooter Indiana, was able to surprise a customer on the spot. “Our plumbing manager, Larry Hughes, noticed the family struggling and unable to afford the new equipment for their home in the middle of winter,” said Tidwell. “She knew she was getting a new water heater but was surprised by the plumbing manager taking care of the costs associated with it. This has been an incredibly fulfilling way to let our community know how much we care.”
In addition to the efforts in Indianapolis, ARS service centers across the country will be donating HVAC units and water heaters to families in need in their communities. To learn more about ARS Cares, visit ars.com.
