SAN ANTONIO — Take a school on a limited budget, add the latest HVAC technology and it equals the perfect teachable moment for greater efficiency, convenience, and comfort.
That’s the result of a recent donation from Friedrich Air Conditioning to Mount Sacred Heart, a pre-K-8 grade school in San Antonio, Texas. Friedrich installed 10 new state-of-the-art, top-rated Kühl room A/C units at the school to replace a hodgepodge of older, inefficient units made from a variety of other manufacturers that are outmoded and in various stages of disrepair.
In part, the donation is a major test for Friedrich’s latest smart technology Wi-Fi platform called FriedrichConnect, which the company plans to introduce as part of its full Kühl line later this year. With FriedrichConnect, all the new Friedrich Kühl units being installed at Mount Sacred can be remotely controlled and managed as a group, eliminating the need for a separate energy management system. With an intuitive, easy to use interface and quick installation, the latest Kühl units make HVAC maintenance and operation a breeze.
“Remote management will contribute to significant energy savings,” said Brittany Calderon, Friedrich consumer products manager. “These units also offer customizable room-by-room comfort and are extremely convenient for the school to operate. Remote management means not worrying about whether someone forgot to turn off the A/C and the potential wasted energy that may result.”
The Kühl line has cooling-only models and models with heat (heat pump or electric heat) in a full range of capacities so they can operate as year-round central-like systems. The largest Kühl unit can produce up to 36,000 Btu and ENERGY STAR® qualified models are available in a variety of different sizes.
“When it comes to creating the optimal learning environment, comfort is essential,” said Veronica Beck, principal of Mount Sacred Heart School. “We are so grateful to Friedrich for this donation. It’s already making a major difference in helping us control energy costs while maintaining a consistent, comfortable environment for our students and staff.”
