ATLANTA — Dan Foley, owner of Foley Mechanical Inc. in Lorton, Virginia, was presented the Dan Holohan Lifetime Contribution to Comfort Award at Taco Comfort Solutions’® press conference at the AHR Expo on Jan. 14, by John Hazen White, Jr., executive chairman and CEO of Taco Family of Companies.

Foley is the fourth recipient of the award, and is recognized for his uncompromising commitment to the quality, comfort, efficiency, and capability provided by hydronic systems.  He founded Foley Mechanical Inc. (FMI) in 2002 in the greater Washington D.C. area, and has built a reputation as one of the nation’s leading mechanical contractors. The company’s slogan, "The Art of Comfort," says a lot about the firm, and Foley’s dedication to craft.

After earning a business degree from Virginia Tech in 1988, Foley served 15 years with Arlington Heating and A/C before starting his own company. His years of field experience installing and servicing radiant and hydronic systems complement his design and leadership skills.

Today, Foley Mechanical is an early adopter of state-of-the-art technology, yet also attentive to time-honored, traditional skills needed to serve the large, old buildings — and ultramodern homes — throughput the D.C. metro area.  Foley and his trade professionals provide custom comfort and efficiency solutions to a level of mastery.

As an admired leader in the HVAC industry, Foley’s decades of experience and history of stellar work have earned the firm ample media exposure. His turnkey projects have been featured in dozens of magazines; today he’s regarded as one of the country’s most influential HVAC contractors. His expertise as a business manager combined with his wealth of technical steam and hydronic knowledge have made Foley a respected columnist in several publications.

Foley serves on the board of his local Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) chapter and serves as chair of its national Radiant & Hydronics Council. He also serves on the board of Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC).  He is a past president of the Radiant Professionals Alliance (RPA), is certified by the RPA as a designer and installer, and holds master HVAC and master plumbing/gas fitting licenses in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland.  In 2017, Foley Mechanical was named PHCC’s national HVAC Contractor of the Year.

The Dan Holohan Lifetime Contribution to Comfort Award is given annually to an HVAC professional or company that has made a substantial contribution to comfort technology, advancement, or training while displaying the exceptional good humor and love of people exhibited by Dan Holohan throughout his long career.  Past award winners include Dan Holohan, Robert Bean, and Bruce Marshall.
