ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. is seeking volunteers to serve on the technical committee for ANSI/AMCA Standard 540, Test Method for Louvers Impacted by Wind Borne Debris.
Both committee and non-voting members are sought. A committee member is someone directly or materially affected by the subject of the standard. A non-voting member receives all materials (agendas, minutes, committee drafts, etc.) distributed to committee members and may join conference calls, but cannot vote.
ANSI/AMCA Standard 540 establishes uniform methods for the laboratory testing of louvers with the large missile described in ASTM E1996-04, Standard Specification for Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, Doors, and Impact Protective Systems Impacted by Windborne Debris in Hurricanes, and ASTM E1886-05, Standard Test Method for Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, Doors, and Impact Protective Systems Impacted by Missile(s) and Exposed to Cyclic Pressure Differentials. The scope of the standard is for impact testing of louvers used on the outside of buildings as required by the International Building Code and the International Residential Code.
