NEW YORK, NY A Bronx organization that helps children and adults with special needs has become the first nonprofit in the United States to adopt an air cleaning system from Dexwet, a global air filtration, production, and development company. Unique Life Inc. partnered with Today HVAC, a New York-based home service company, to install Dexwet’s air filters in every classroom and office to protect individuals from harmful airborne particles that can cause health problems.

Carlos Antigua, owner of Today HVAC and a certified Dexwet Contractor, customized Dexwet’s Pure Air Filters for installation on two dozen air outflow vents, covering every room of the Bronx nonprofit. The filter’s design improves air quality by capturing hazardous ultra-fine dust, pollen, viruses, bacteria, and other airborne particles continuously, whenever the units are operating.

“The pandemic has been a worrisome time for people with special needs. We believe it is our duty to protect their physical and mental health and Dexwet filters have been proven to improve air quality, which gives us all peace of mind,” said Rajah Gray, deputy executive director, Unique Life. “These filters are unlike anything we have seen and since they are silent and blend into the background, our students can stay focused without distractions.”

The nonprofit worked with the local experts at Today HVAC to identify an air cleaning solution that would be safe around children and adults with developmental disabilities. Antigua found the answer at A/C Penguin Prestige, an East Coast supplier and Dexwet Territory Partner that began carrying Dexwet Pure Air Filters in January 2022.

“Dexwet Pure Air Filters have the most innovative design and are completely safe and scientifically proven to improve air quality without noise or needing to be plugged in,” said Carlos Antigua, owner of Today HVAC. “Unlike traditional pleated filters that have to be replaced monthly, I can wash Dexwet filters and reinstall them as needed once a year.”

Dexwet’s design uses scientific principles of airflow to channel air through a maze of plastic rods that permanently capture particles in a non-toxic oil solution while allowing pure, clean air to flow through. Each one is custom fit and installed by a certified technician. In the Unique Life space, Antigua customized the filters to work in conjunction with Mitsubishi 15k BTU ceiling cassettes.

“Our Dexwet Pure Air Filters represent a new approach to keeping individuals safe by using airflow to passively capture dangerous particles, viruses, and bacteria in a silent, sustainable manner that promotes good health,” said Gregory Scott Newsome, chief financial officer and board director of Dexwet. “We look forward to bringing our clean air solution to other organizations and public environments throughout the U.S.”
